The campaign against the Eagle Hills project demonstrates that the economic sabotage currently targeting the Georgian people is being orchestrated by a single hand, said on Tuesday Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili.
In his remarks, Papuashvili claimed this was a foreign-managed operation controlled in a coordinated manner.
“We are talking about the largest investment in our history, which has no shortcomings and will bring significant prosperity to the country. Yet, there is a deliberate economic sabotage campaign against it. Everything is being managed by a single hand, and we see that both pro-Russian and pro-European forces ultimately act against Georgian interests”, the Speaker said.
He emphasised that the main takeaway for society is that when seemingly antagonistic forces unite - where one side labels the other as pro-Russian, and the other claims to be pro-European, sparking conflict - they in fact share not only a common agenda but also common financial resources.
“Where else would they get the funds to finance this campaign? They have shared finances, which shows that this is a foreign-controlled, unified, and coordinated attack on Georgia, its people, their interests, and the country’s economy”, Papuashvili concluded.
