Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili on Tuesday described non-governmental organisations as the greatest scam of the 21st century, alleging that many are funded by foreign governments and act as politically engaged entities.
“The NGO system is the greatest evil. This is precisely the scam that the current US administration has exposed by cutting off all funding to this corrupt system. As I have said before, and I will repeat, the so-called NGO system is the greatest evil that the West has imposed, especially on Eastern European countries”, the Speaker said.
“It is the largest wrongdoing that the West has committed against the democracies of Eastern Europe. They have placed their agents wherever possible - within legislative bodies, executive authorities, judicial systems, and media - embedding the influence of foreign governments at every level”, he concluded.
