The Anaklia Port project is continuing, with key infrastructure works being carried out through state funding, said on Monday Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze in an interview with Rustavi 2 TV channel.
In his remarks, Kobakhidze noted that negotiations with foreign partners were ongoing to finalise specific terms, and international partners were expected to join the project in the near future.
“Negotiations are ongoing, but they do not affect the timeline for a simple reason: the first phase of the works has already been undertaken by the state. This was taken into account in the original plan”, the PM said.
He explained that dredging works and the construction of breakwaters were being financed directly by the state and that implementation of the project was actively continuing.
“We are at the final stage of negotiations. There are still a few points to be agreed upon, but we believe these issues will be resolved soon, and ultimately a foreign partner will become involved in the implementation of the project”, the Prime Minister added.
He emphasised once again that until foreign partners officially join, the Anaklia Port project is progressing as planned, with all relevant infrastructure works being financed and executed by the state.
