Kakha Kaladze, the Mayor of Tbilisi and Secretary General of the ruling Georgian Dream party, on Monday commented on a recent statement by Tulsi Gabbard, the Director of National Intelligence of the United States, who said that NATO and the European Union did not want the war in Ukraine to end.
In his remarks, Kaladze noted there were indeed specific countries and political figures that were opposing efforts to stop the war.
“The ongoing war is a major challenge for the modern world. When President Trump was elected, his main promises were, first, to end the war, and second, to defeat the deep state. As for the war, active negotiations are under way. However, there are challenges - certain countries and politicians are opposing the end of the war. This is extremely difficult for Ukraine. I would not wish their situation on my enemy. Hopefully, it will be possible to stop the war”, Kaladze said.
He emphasised that prolonging the conflict causes severe hardship for Ukraine and expressed hope that ongoing talks would eventually lead to a cessation of hostilities.
