Levan Machavariani, the First Deputy Chair of the ruling Georgian Dream party faction in the legislative body, on Sunday said that the European bureaucrats currently running the European Union were, unfortunately, either “incompetent” or, more likely, acting on behalf of specific forces - what he referred to as an “informal oligarchic governance” - without asking any questions.
In his interview with Imedi TV, Machavariani noted that Brussels was currently in a “difficult situation”.
“The former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom [Boris Johnson] admitted that no one considered Ukraine’s accession to NATO, and Mr. Johnson is one of the most irresponsible politicians because, in 2023, he promised Ukraine that the accession process would begin”, Machavariani said.
He further recalled Johnson’s visit to Kyiv in April 2022.
“In April 2022, Ukraine and Russia reached an agreement to stop the war. Mr. Boris Johnson went there and disrupted this agreement by convincing the Ukrainian authorities that the West would support them and they could defeat Russia”, the Parliament official concluded.
