Highly rated British publication The Independent has named Georgia among the world’s best travel destinations for 2026.
According to The Independent’s travel expert Lauren Taylor, Georgia is becoming increasingly popular among international tourists.
Georgia was included in The Independent’s travel list alongside destinations such as Mallorca, the United States, South Korea, and other well-known locations.
“EasyJet launched flights from London to Tbilisi this year, and this Eastern European country is attracting more and more travelers. This will be further supported by new flights to Georgia starting from 2026”, the publication notes.
Along with various global destinations, The Independent article highlights Tbilisi as a key attraction.
“Tbilisi boasts grand, wide boulevards and cobbled streets in a historic old town, as well as some famous sulphur baths, and outside the capital, there are ancient monasteries and cathedrals, including the UNESCO-anointed Gelati Monastery in Kutaisi, which is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. As Tom Barber, co-founder of a major tour company, told me, Georgia is a fantastic country and is set to become extremely popular. As Tom says, Everyone we send to Georgia comes back saying it’s just amazing. They’ve got incredible food and the oldest wine making industry in the world”, writes the British travel expert in The Independent article.
