The Georgian Airport Association on Thursday announced that another low-cost European airline, Norwegian, was entering the Georgian aviation market.
Norway's largest and Scandinavia's second largest airline will fly on the Copenhagen-Tbilisi-Copenhagen route from the summer of 2026.
For the first time in history, direct regular flights between the capitals of Denmark and Georgia will be operated twice a week, from June 27, 2026.
The Georgian Airports Association has successfully completed the final round of proactive negotiations with Norwegian. It is worth noting that there has never been a direct regular flight between the two capitals before.
Georgia's direct air route to Copenhagen was via Kutaisi International Airport.
In 2024, 32,384 passengers used the direct flight between Denmark and Georgia. In total, 22,552 visitors from the Scandinavian countries visited Georgia in 2024.
The second largest Scandinavian airline, Norwegian, has been operating since 1993 and is the fourth largest low-cost airline in Europe by passenger traffic. Norwegian was named the best low-cost airline in Northern Europe in 2021 by Skytrax.
Tickets for the Copenhagen-Tbilisi-Copenhagen route are now available on the airline's website.
