Rati Ionatamishvili, the Chair of the Georgian Parliament’s Human Rights and Civic Integration Committee, on Friday said Georgia was not supporting the war, and would always be on the side of the Ukrainian people.
Ionatamishvili’s comments came after Georgia supported the resolution of the United Nations General Assembly on the situation of human rights in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine.
“Our country always takes the right position. Of course, with this right position, it supports Ukraine where it needs it most. This decision [to support the resolution] is proof of this”, Ionatamishvili
“Against the background of all this, it is once again clear that in many cases, it is European bureaucrats or various international actors who, in reality, do not support Ukraine, but support the war, and then criticise Georgia. In reality, Georgia does not support the war, and will always be on the side of the Ukrainian people”, he concluded.
