Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Wednesday assessed the recent report of the Council of the European Union as taking responsibility for the criminal and anti-state actions occurring against Georgian people and the state.
In his remarks, Kobakhidze argued that the report, which discusses the arrests of individuals directly involved in revolutionary processes, effectively places European bureaucrats in a position of accepting responsibility for acts against statehood and the constitutional order.
“The arrested individuals were directly involved in revolutionary activities and attacks on state institutions. It appears that European bureaucrats are assuming responsibility for these acts, which constitute offenses against statehood and the constitutional order. If I were in their position, I certainly would not accept or share responsibility for such criminal acts”, the PM said.
Regarding legislation, he noted that the report referred to the transparency law, asserting that there is no basis for criticism.
“This law gave us the ability to put a name to everything, which was its main purpose. It allowed us to clearly identify so-called NGOs, so-called civil society organizations, and foreign agents by their real nature. Ultimately, some European bureaucrats do not like this. In their place, I would not assume responsibility for the anti-state actions carried out over the years by certain organizations, so-called NGOs, and so-called civil society groups. I would call this statement an acceptance of responsibility for crimes and anti-state actions against the Georgian people and the Georgian state”, the Prime Minister concluded.
