Georgian Foreign Minister Maka Botchorishvili on Tuesday reaffirmed Georgia’s unwavering commitment to upholding international norms and supporting Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity during her visit to The Hague.
In her remarks, Botchorishvili stressed that Georgia’s position on supporting Ukraine had never wavered.
“Georgia has always been and continues to be consistent when it comes to upholding international norms and supporting Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity”, she said.
The Minister emphasised that Georgia had consistently maintained its stance on international law, advocating for peaceful conflict resolution and legal mechanisms to protect those whose rights have been violated.
“We consistently continue the policy of support that our country has maintained for a long time. For us, being here today is important. When we speak about international law and norms, this is a platform to remind the international community about our issues and to discuss our challenges. Georgia seeks justice through legal means and strives to protect the rights of those whose rights have been violated as a result of the occupation, she noted.
Botchorishvili highlighted the importance of participating in international platforms, like the Council of Europe, to present Georgia’s perspective, discuss challenges, and advocate for justice through established international mechanisms.
“I want to emphasise once again that we support the peaceful resolution of conflicts and the efforts aimed at resolving conflicts peacefully. That is precisely why we are using this platform. All mechanisms developed by the international community should serve the cause of peaceful conflict resolution”, she concluded.
