Gia Volski, an MP from the ruling Georgian Dream party and the First Vice Speaker of the Parliament, on Tuesday said that Georgia was supporting the end of the war in Ukraine through fair and just decisions.
In his interview with Imedi TV, Volski addressed the state of relations between Georgia and Ukraine, Georgia’s position on the ongoing war, and what he described as double standards applied to Georgia by certain European Union representatives.
“When we talk about the possibility that relations between Ukraine and Georgia could be restored if Georgia supports Kyiv’s political position - by backing resolutions at international forums - this is a hope that practically does not exist and has effectively been dead since February 2022”, he said.
The official emphasised that Georgia maintained an independent foreign policy aligned with European standards and was guided by principles of justice.
“We support justice and position ourselves as an independent state that meets European standards and believes that this war must end and that fair decisions must be made”, Volski concluded.
