Nino Tsilosani, an MP for the ruling Georgian Dream party and Vice Speaker of the Georgian Parliament, on Monday said the European Union should have far more important matters to focus on than criticising and attacking a successful Georgia.
In her remarks, Tsilosani noted that a number of false claims and disinformation about Georgia would be voiced at the upcoming meeting of EU foreign ministers.
“We hear statements from the US President and high-ranking officials about the unfortunate regression the European Union is experiencing. Bureaucracy no longer serves the European people and states, but instead operates with entirely different objectives. At the EU foreign ministers’ meeting, we will hear numerous falsehoods and disinformation about Georgia”, the Parliament official said.
“If these people are genuinely interested in whether there is freedom of speech or how democracy functions, they should review objective rankings produced by their own institutions. That would make their statements more credible. This meeting will also be used to launch attacks against Georgia. Why Georgia is being targeted is also clear”, she concluded.
