Georgia’s messages must be clear to everyone - the country wants peace, stability, and economic development, and is ready for dialogue with all parties, said on Sunday Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili.
In his remarks, Kavelashvili noted that Tbilisi was also open to dialogue with the European Union, despite the crisis and multiple challenges facing Brussels.
He expressed hope that Europe would find the strength to overcome its difficulties and remain true to its traditional values.
President Kavelashvili also emphasised the importance of keeping the public well informed amid the current global situation.
“In times like these, it is even more important to remain vigilant and for Georgian citizens to be well informed. We must discuss outcomes. Our stability and peace have been ensured precisely because the majority of Georgia’s population has been informed about the challenges related to relations with the European Union, interactions between various countries, and tensions between the US and EU bureaucracy, among other issues”, he said.
Kavelashvili stressed that close observation of ongoing developments was essential.
“Our position has always been clear: no one will support us if we do not defend our own national interests. This has become evident in today’s situation”, the President continued.
Kavelashvili underlined the need for continued vigilance to ensure Georgia emerges stronger from current challenges.
“By victory, we mean preventing radical and violent actions in Georgia, avoiding foreign interference, strengthening stability, and continuing on the path of development”, he concluded.
