Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili on Friday said that the term coined in the White House - the “Estonization” of European foreign policy - directly referred to what the Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna carried out on Rustaveli Avenue in Tbilisi, when reckless activism became a part of foreign policy.
In his remarks, Papuashvili noted that relations with the EU bureaucracy, which he described as having “led Europe into a civilizational abyss”, would be challenging for Georgia.
“We are witnessing a European awakening, including across the European Union, with new elections in various member states and the rise of patriotic forces to power. This is the path to saving Europe, not the abyss where bureaucracy and certain leaders have brought it today. This is also the path for our future relations with the European Union. Relations with the bureaucracy that threatens Europe with civilizational destruction, which has pushed Europe into a civilizational abyss, will undoubtedly be difficult for us”, he said.
“The difference in values between us and the Estonian Foreign Minister is evident. It was even noted in the US media that the term ‘Estonization of European foreign policy’ has emerged in the White House. This directly refers to the actions of the Estonian Foreign Minister on Rustaveli Avenue, where reckless activism becomes part of foreign policy rather than rational consideration of interests”, Papuashvili concluded.
