At the plenary session of the international forum in Turkmenistan titled Peace and Trust: A Shared Goal for a Sustainable Future, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Friday said that despite global economic and geopolitical challenges, Georgia - positioned at the crossroads of Europe and Asia - continued to demonstrate successful development.
In his address, Kobakhidze noted that the country maintained steady advancement, preserved macroeconomic stability, achieved impressive growth, and exhibited strong economic resilience.
“We are guided by a clear vision of sustainable peace. Georgia continues its stable development, maintains macroeconomic stability, achieves remarkable growth, and demonstrates exceptional economic resilience. These results directly reflect the Government’s guiding strategy: peace creates predictability, and predictability forms the foundation for a sustainable economy”, he said.
“Georgia has sustained consistent economic growth for several consecutive years. Between 2021 and 2024, Georgia recorded one of the highest growth rates globally - an average of 9.8%. GDP per capita in U.S. dollars has doubled, and in fact more than doubled, compared to 2020. High economic growth is expected to continue in the coming years, as confirmed by assessments from reputable international financial institutions”, the PM continued.
Kobakhidze further stressed that in light of this positive economic momentum, Georgia remained an active facilitator of regional cooperation, “building physical and diplomatic bridges” across the region.
“The Middle Corridor linking Asia and Europe is central to this vision. It is designed not only to enhance trade, but also to strengthen mutual economic interdependence - the most sustainable foundation of trust between nations. Indeed, the Middle Corridor is more than a transport route. It is a corridor of trust that connects people, businesses, and cultures across the continent”, he concluded.
