Irakli Kirtskhalia, the Chair of the ruling Georgian Dream party faction in the legislative body, on Monday strongly criticised European Commissioner Marta Kos for her statement on finding ways to finance non-governmental organisations in Georgia, saying her goal was to turn the Georgian Government and the country into a puppet.
“Marta Kos's goal is the same goal they have had towards our country since 2022, to turn our Government and country into a puppet, to use our state as a proxy state and to get involved in the disastrous war in which Ukraine is involved. In this case, Georgia would only become a statistical data and Marta Kos and her colleagues would talk about what happened with concern. They directly revealed these approaches towards our country”, Kirtskhalia said.
He emphasised that the US position on the issue of funding non-governmental organisations was well known to the public.
“[United States President] Donald Trump's foreign policy and course are well known to the public. I am sure you have read the action plan that the US administration has presented, which is minimal interference in the sovereignty of any country. This will be missed at today's Brussels and the bureaucracy that is directly run by informal rulers, which has been called the so-called deep state. Of course, we see this being missed”, he concluded.
