Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Friday said that both internal political forces and their sponsoring external political actors had been shielding not only extremism but also terrorism, adding that such cases further strengthened the lawsuit submitted to the Constitutional Court.
Kobakhidze responded to a leader of the opposition Lelo party Grigol Gegelia’s statement, where he referred to Aleko Elisashvili as a comrade-in-arms.
“Not only extremism, but now even terrorism is being covered up both by domestic political forces and their external political patrons. They have moved from justifying extremism to justifying terrorism, and this shows their true face”, the PM said.
“Such cases further reinforce the lawsuit that has been submitted to the Constitutional Court of Georgia”, he concluded.
The Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia has filed charges against Elisashvili for an attempted act of terrorism in the Tbilisi City Court.
