Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze told reporters that he hopes to see an overall change in the US Government’s approach toward Georgia, expressing what he described as a “general sense of optimism”.
According to Kobakhidze, Georgia is patiently awaiting Washington’s position, and the government expects that what he called the “harsh and unfair attitude” shown before 2024 will be replaced by new, more balanced approaches.
“We, of course, hope that the overall attitude of the US Government toward Georgia will change. This is a general optimism we can express. We are patiently waiting for their position regarding Georgia, and we hope that the absolutely harsh and unfair stance that existed before 2024 will be replaced by new approaches”, Kobakhidze said.
He added that specific US legislative actions are not of primary importance at this stage. What matters, he noted, is that Georgia has made clear its position to the United States and is now expecting a response.
“We will act based on what that response will be”, the Prime Minister stated.
