In an interview with Deutsche Welle, Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili said that the ruling Georgian Dream party was the absolute leader in the 2024 elections.
Kavelashvili emphasised that the ruling party’s electoral support ranged from one million to one million two hundred thousand votes.
“When we talk about the 2024 parliamentary elections, in my view - and I have been in politics for ten years now - the recent elections were held much better than all previous ones”, he said.
“I can confirm that the latest elections were consistent with the results of earlier elections, in which the ruling Georgian Dream party received similar support. The Georgian Dream party was the absolute leader in the last elections”, Kavelashvili continued.
He noted that the Georgian Dream party received the same number of votes as in previous elections and the party’s electoral support usually ranges from one million to one million two hundred thousand votes.
“Unfortunately, the former President Salome Zourabichvili decided not to wait for the Central Election Commission to officially announce the results of the 2024 elections and rejected the legitimacy of the elections”, the President concluded.
