Irakli Kirtskhalia, the Chair of the ruling Georgian Dream party faction in the legislative body, on Monday commented on the BBC article, stating that Georgia will deliver “a proper response at all levels” and make it clear “what a dirty game is being played against our country”.
In his remarks, Kirtskhalia noted that the publication was directly insulting to the nation, the state, and Georgia’s statehood.
“Years have passed, months have passed, and day after day we are witnessing their full exposure in every direction - whether it is the NGO sector, media outlets, political groups, parties, or bureaucrats. Which of their resolutions should I list, which of their disgraceful statements about our country should I recall?” he pointed out.
“Once again, alongside all the insulting statements, this is yet another direct insult to our country, our nation, and our statehood. What we heard is an insult to the entire institution - to Georgia. When we speak about our party’s statement, of course, we will have a dignified response at every instance and at every level. We will make it known, loudly, what kind of dirty game we are dealing with and how this dirty game against our country continues”, the official concluded.
The BBC on Monday published an article alleging that the Georgian Dream Government used a World War I-era chemical agent during recent protests.
