Archil Gorduladze, the Chair of the Georgian Parliament’s Legal Affairs Committee, on Friday called on Peter Fischer, Germany’s Ambassador to Georgia, to once again read the Vienna Convention in full, to understand its spirit, and to stop disseminating falsehoods.
Gorduladze also commented on remarks made by Fischer regarding laws recently adopted in the country.
“Is it about the transparency law, the law that is now being adopted and tightened in the European Union? Is it about the law on the protection of family values and are they demanding the repeal of this law? Any attempt at blackmail and any statement related to the European Union made by Fischer, who is called an ambassador, are of course disinformation and merely an attempt to bring unrest into the country”, he said.
“I once again call on this person to read the Vienna Convention in full, to understand its spirit, and to stop spreading lies”, Gorduladze concluded.
On the backdrop of the tightening of transparency regulations by the European Parliament, Peter Fischer criticised the laws adopted by the Georgian authorities, including the law on transparency.
Fischer claimed that with this legislation Georgia would not be able to become a member of the European Union.
