Certain forces used Ukraine as cannon fodder, and there were similar attempts directed at Georgia; however, thanks to our uncompromising position and persistent efforts, we managed to prevent this negative scenario for our country, said on Monday Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze.
In his remarks, Kobakhidze noted that Georgia must continue its efforts to preserve peace and ensure the country’s further development.
“It is absolutely alarming to see the attitude displayed toward Ukraine and the Ukrainian people. We witnessed how certain forces used Ukraine as cannon fodder. As for Georgia, there were similar attempts, but through our uncompromising stance and struggle we managed to avoid this scenario, which was extremely difficult. It required enormous effort. You saw the level of pressure our country faced and the extent of injustice directed against Georgia precisely because we were fighting to maintain peace in our country”, he said.
“What we managed to achieve, unfortunately, our friendly nation Ukraine could not. This is a tragic reality. We all see the humanitarian consequences of this war - the loss of life, the economic and infrastructural devastation. The country was driven to destruction; a revolution was staged, and no one took responsibility for what followed. This is tragic, and we managed to avoid this path in Georgia, which required tremendous effort. But there is no room for complacency. We must continue to work to preserve peace and ensure Georgia’s ongoing development”, the PM concluded.
