Georgia remains one of the leading countries in all international rankings, but when faced with a differing political agenda and the influence of informal forces, facts are often ignored in favor of bare political statements, said on Wednesday Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze.
In his interview with Imedi TV, the Prime Minister emphasised that fact-based reports consistently highlight Georgia’s progress.
“There are fact-based reports published periodically by the European Union, the European Commission, and various international institutions. When an analysis is grounded in facts and cannot be avoided, it clearly shows Georgia’s standing compared to other candidate countries. In fact-based reports, our progress is always visible”, Kobakhidze said.
Highlighting economic achievements, he noted that over the past four years, the economic gap between Georgia and Moldova has widened by $11 billion.
“I won’t even mention Ukraine - the country’s economy has collapsed. This means that the difference between our budgets has grown by more than $2.5 billion. The same applies to corruption. Ukraine and Moldova are among the most corrupt countries in Europe, while Georgia ranks among the leaders according to all international indicators. Even compared to 7-8 EU countries, we outperform them in terms of low corruption”, he said.
Kobakhidze criticised politically motivated statements that ignore factual evidence.
“When you have a different political agenda and act under the influence of informal powers, you avoid facts and make bare political statements that have no connection to reality. This is why, on one hand, fact-based reports show Georgia’s progress, but in crude statements, we see a different, virtual reality”, the Prime Minister concluded.
