Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Wednesday directly addressed comments made by Marta Kos, the EU Commissioner for Enlargement, stating that European bureaucracies were deliberately seeking illicit channels to transfer funds, implying malicious intent behind such actions.
“When you are looking for black channels, your intentions are black as well”, Kobakhidze said in response to a question regarding Kos’ statement.
The Prime Minister claimed that the funds in question have been used to orchestrate five separate attempts at revolution in Georgia through NGOs.
“We know what this money was intended for - during the previous [US] administration, it was American money, and under both the previous and current European bureaucracies, the purpose of these funds remains clear. These were five different attempts to stage a revolution, carried out through NGOs, which are often labeled as ‘civil society’. I will say it again: this is an entirely misleading term with no connection to reality. There is no such thing as civil and non-civil society. It simply does not exist. When you try to elevate yourself with an absurd term, it shows that you have ill intentions in multiple directions. This is a direct admission that they want to attempt creating disorder here once more, and for that, they intend to bring in black money. Of course, the state will fully defend its interests, as we have successfully done in the past and will continue to do in the future”, Kobakhidze concluded.
