Nat Parry, the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly Spokesperson, on Wednesday confirmed that Tina Bokuchava, the opposition UNM party leader, lied when she said that the OSCE adopted a critical resolution against Georgia.
As for Imedi TV’s question regarding Bokuchava’s statement, Parry noted that this was false information.
“The Parliamentary Assembly has not adopted any resolution at its Autumn meeting on November 17-19 in Istanbul. The press reports that suggest that the Assembly has adopted a resolution here are false. The OSCE PA leadership is committed to constructive solutions in line with OSCE values and principles”, Parry said.
Bokuchava on Tuesday said that the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly had adopted a resolution on Georgia, highlighting authoritarian steps taken by the regime of Bidzina Ivanishviili, the founder and Honorary Chair of the ruling Georgian Dream party.
Bokuchava added that a resolution also described the political repression taking place in the country and called on international partners to use all international instruments, including such specific instruments that would financially limit the Ivanishvili regime, its repressive machine, and impose specific restrictions so that corrupt money was not used to consolidate the dictatorship in Georgia.
