Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili on Wednesday said it was “unsurprising” that Brussels avoided dialogue with Georgia, especially on issues on which the EU would supposedly have the most to say.
In a social media message, Papuashvili stressed that there was no ‘Europe’ without respect for truth and openness to criticism.
“It is no surprise that Brussels is avoiding dialogue - and precisely on the issues on which, if asked, they would have had the most to say. The reason is simple: when your positions are built on false narratives and disinformation, you know that the very first substantive conversation will collapse this false construction with a single truthful argument”, he noted.
“There is no ‘Europe’ without respect for truth and openness to criticism”, Papuashvili added.
The scheduled Georgia-EU human rights dialogue was postponed by decision of the European Union.
