Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Monday said that the domestic opposition’s talks of snap elections were an empty farce.
In his interview with the Adjara Public Broadcaster, Kobakhidze noted that the next parliamentary elections would be held on October 28, 2028, as usual and as provided for by the Constitution.
“They [the domestic opposition] will completely disintegrate. If snap elections are held tomorrow, the Georgian Dream [party] will easily receive the constitutional majority. As you saw in the local elections, our support has increased even more [compared to parliamentary elections], therefore, the talks about snap elections are an empty farce. They themselves prefer to wait 3 years. However, they are speculating here too. Despite the fact that subjectively something may be interesting for us, the next parliamentary elections will be held on October 28, 2028”, the PM said.
