Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili on Monday said that Brussels had chosen the path of confrontation rather than dialogue, calling it a non-European approach.
When asked what it meant for the country that Georgia was not invited to the EU Enlargement Forum, the Parliament Speaker said that this confirmed that in the relationship between Georgia and the European Union, it was Brussels that chose confrontation over dialogue.
“This is evidence of all this, just as the [EU] Ambassador’s letter was evidence that Brussels itself halted the integration process in June 2024, and then blamed us as if the November 28 statement had stopped the integration process. How can you halt something that was already suspended five months earlier? The reason is simple: the Georgian people dared to demand the public disclosure of Brussels’ finances, and they cannot forgive the Georgian people”, he said.
“We cannot be held responsible for someone else’s bad behavior - regarding Brussels’ confrontational policy, we, as a non-member country, cannot be held accountable. Those who are members, some try to influence this in some way”, Papuashvili concluded.
