Imedi TV on Saturday said that Germany’s Ambassador to Georgia, Peter Fischer, has yet to clarify why he attended a rally involving activists who participated in the October 4 attempt to violently overthrow the Government.
Imedi TV noted that multiple questions addressed to the Ambassador remain unanswered, including whether his participation in the rally signals support for activists associated with the October 4 violent attempt, and why the German Embassy has refrained from issuing an official comment or explanation about the visit.
On October 4, a group of activists attempted to overthrow the Georgian Government by force.
In the weeks that followed, the presence of Germany’s Ambassador at a rally connected to these activists raised public controversy.
The German Foreign Ministry recalled Fischer to Berlin for consultations in October, a move widely perceived as a response to the developing situation.
The Ambassador returned to Tbilisi on November 6 and then again attended the same rally.
