Gia Volski, an MP from the ruling Georgian Dream party and the First Vice Speaker of the Parliament, on Thursday said there was ongoing anti-Georgian propaganda in response to the statement of Paweł Herczyński, the European Union Ambassador to Georgia, that Ukraine and Moldova were ahead of Georgia on the path to European Union enlargement.
In his remarks, Volski noted that it seemed like Herczyński was tasked with making statements of this nature in order to stir up the public.
“It seems that the [EU] Ambassador's statements, and not just Ambassador's statements, are made specifically to stir up the public. This group of people is eager to develop a wave of confrontation in public. We will always stand by the Ukrainian people, the Moldovan people too, but the authorities are anti-Georgian. Fierce anti-Georgian propaganda is underway. I think that this direction of influence on the public is taken by Herczyński and those who give Herchinsky the task of not to end this process of confrontation in Georgia”, Volski said.
