Archil Gorduladze, Chair of the Georgian Parliament’s Legal Affairs Committee, on Tuesday rejected statements made by United National Movement (UNM) representative Ana Tsitlidze during a Constitutional Court hearing, disputing her characterisation of the 2025 protests as peaceful.
Gorduladze said the gatherings in 2025 had involved violence, with participants attacking police officers, disobeying their lawful orders and attempting to storm the presidential palace.
He added that these incidents had been corroborated by participants’ own admissions and plea agreements.
“In fact, the gatherings held in 2025 were violent. Participants attacked police officers and disobeyed their lawful orders, while those taking part in the violent protest attempted to storm the presidential palace. This has been confirmed by their own admissions and plea agreements,” Gorduladze said.
