The 5th Silk Road Forum officially opened on Wednesday at the Tbilisi Opera and Ballet Theater. The event, held under the patronage of the Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Kobakhidze, will take place between Wednesday and Thursday and brings together high-ranking political figures, representatives of the business sector, and international organisations.
First launched in 2015, the Tbilisi Silk Road Forum has become an international brand and a major platform for dialogue between governments, organisations, and business leaders from around the world.
Traditionally held every two years, the forum serves as a space for bilateral and multilateral meetings aimed at enhancing political, economic, and cultural cooperation.
The opening panel - a high-level dialogue - features the heads of government from the region: Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Kobakhidze, Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan, and Prime Minister of Azerbaijan Ali Asadov.
This year’s event once again gathers an impressive and diverse audience, hosting more than 2,300 delegates from over 70 countries.
Participants include prime ministers and deputy prime ministers of regional states, ministers from beyond the region, senior representatives of leading global companies, international experts, members of the diplomatic corps accredited in Georgia, and delegates from major international organizations such as the United Nations, the World Bank, the Asian Development Bank, and the Black Sea Economic Cooperation Organization (BSEC).
The Tbilisi Silk Road Forum provides one of the most significant platforms for deepening political, trade-economic, and cultural ties between Asia and Europe. Discussions will focus on global trade and economic relations, transport and logistics connectivity between Europe and Asia - including the role and further development of the Middle Corridor - as well as new programs and sectoral projects.
The main theme and slogan of this year’s forum is Invest in Connectivity - Grow in Stability.
