Levan Zhorzholiani, the Head of the Administration of the Government of Georgia, on Saturday said that a total of 364 public institutions took part in Georgia’s internship programme, receiving 55,000 applications for 3,500 vacancies, of which 5,600 were unique.
In his interview with Imedi TV, Zhorzholiani noted that the figures demonstrated strong interest in the initiative, with around 1,500 interns selected.
He added that around 50% of last year’s participants continued working in public institutions. Some had their internships extended, 160 were offered employment contracts, and 40 passed recruitment competitions to become civil servants.
“The programme is very large, involving 364 institutions, including local self-government bodies. We asked municipalities to participate actively so that young people in the regions would have more opportunities to gain internship experience”, Zhorzholiani said.
He noted that many central government agencies, legal entities under public law and state-owned companies were based in Tbilisi, contributing to the total of approximately 3,500 vacancies.
“We received 55,000 applications, of which 5,600 were unique. This demonstrates the very high level of interest, and around 1,500 interns were selected”, Zhorzholiani concluded.
