Priority areas of cooperation between Georgia and the United States were discussed on Thursday in a meeting between Mariam Kvrivishvili, the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, and Alan Purcell, the Acting United States Ambassador to Georgia.
The meeting underscored the importance of the US-Georgia strategic partnership, highlighting Georgia’s interest in revitalising bilateral relations and restoring strategic collaboration.
Kvrivishvili emphasised the significance of President Trump’s peace initiatives, particularly the Armenia-Azerbaijan peace agreement, which has created new opportunities for development in the South Caucasus.
She stressed that this achievement was vital for maintaining regional peace and security, a top priority of the Georgian Government.
The parties also discussed a wide range of economic cooperation, including bilateral trade, investments and transport.
Both sides underlined the importance of developing the Middle Corridor and highlighted the role of Georgia as a key player in regional transit projects, as well as the importance of developing the Middle Corridor as a stable, safe and efficient transit route connecting Europe and Asia.
Ongoing and planned infrastructure projects aimed at strengthening Georgia’s competitiveness and enhancing the Middle Corridor’s capacity were also reviewed.
The meeting also noted that trade turnover between the two countries was growing, amounting to $1.6 billion in the period from January to July of 2025.
