Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Friday met with the domestic business community to discuss the country's positive economic trends and future development.
The meeting, attended by over 80 business leaders from various sectors, focused on Georgia’s leading position in economic growth within the wider region and Europe
Kobakhidze emphasized that robust economic development is crucial for strengthening Georgia's international standing and affirmed that this direction will remain a top priority.
He highlighted the significant progress in reducing poverty and increasing employment, noting that 68,000 new jobs were created last year. He attributed this success largely to the business community's contributions, thanking them for their role in job creation.
The Prime Minister also pointed to positive fiscal indicators, including low inflation and the stability of the national currency. He stated that the government is actively working to further accelerate economic growth.
A key focus of the discussion was the government's ongoing efforts to minimize corruption. Prime Minister Kobakhidze detailed steps taken, including personnel decisions, stressing that corruption hinders economic development. He underscored the Government's political will to reduce corruption to its lowest possible level, prioritizing integrity in staffing changes.
He further elaborated on recent measures implemented for greater transparency and efficiency, such as ensuring the transparency of all government legal acts, ending the practice of direct sales of real estate, and implementing detailed control over large procurements, overseen by the Government Efficiency Department.
The meeting concluded with an extensive Q&A session, allowing business representatives to engage directly with the Prime Minister on various issues.
