Levan Davitashvili, the First Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, on Thursday said Georgia presented a significant market for several American export products due to its strategic position as a regional trade and transit hub.
In his interview with Imedi TV, Davitashvili noted Georgia was an interesting trade partner for the United States.
“While Georgia might be a small consumer market, it is a crucial regional center for trade and transit relations. Products enter Georgia and are distributed throughout the entire region, and this region is quite large. Consequently, for several American export products, Georgia is a very interesting market”, the Minister said.
Davitashvili further elaborated with specific examples, noting that “in terms of used car exports, Georgia ranks tenth globally. Regarding agricultural and food products, it accounts for up to 2 percent [of US exports in that category]”.
