Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Monday said the country's economy demonstrated robust growth in the first two months of 2025.
In his remarks, Kobakhidze noted that Georgia experienced an 11.1% economic growth rate in January, followed by a 7.7% increase in February, as per the latest data from the National Statistics Office of Georgia.
“Economic strength holds particular importance for our independence. We are pleased that the economic strengthening of the country continues. In this regard, the first and second months of 2025 were also exceptional. We closed these two months with positive indicators”, the Georgian PM said.
Kobakhidze highlighted the significance of this positive trend, recalling the annual economic growth of 9.4% recorded in the previous year.
The Prime Minister emphasised the government's commitment to maintaining this momentum.
“Our budgetary forecast is 6%. This is a kind of minimum program that we have set, but I think that with the trends that have been recorded so far, we can exceed this plan”, he added.
Furthermore, Kobakhidze referenced optimistic projections from the International Monetary Fund, which forecasts Georgia to have the highest economic growth in the region and across Europe for the period of 2025-2029.
“We must do everything to not only fulfill this forecast but also further increase our country's economy. Economic strengthening is of particular importance for strengthening the independence of our country”, the Prime Minister concluded.
