Mariam Kvrivishvili, the Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, on Friday announced the launch of Google Street View in Georgia, highlighting its potential to boost the country’s tourism sector.
In her remarks, Kvrivishvili noted that Google Street View was an essential platform actively used by international travellers.
“Google Street View is an essential platform actively used by international travellers when planning visits to various countries. More than 85 countries are integrated into this platform globally, and it is important that our country is now becoming part of it”, the Deputy Economy Minister said.
Through a collaboration between Georgia’s Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development and the Innovation and Technology Agency, Google Street View will begin operations in the country.
This initiative will provide 360-degree panoramic images of major Georgian cities, enhancing the experience for international travellers using Google Maps.
Specialised Google filming teams will document 24 cities across Georgia over a 12-month period, making detailed digital imagery available for travellers and businesses worldwide.
“We are confident that this platform will contribute to increasing Georgia’s international visibility and further strengthening its tourism industry”, Kvrivishvili concluded.
