The National Statistics Office of Georgia on Friday published the rapid estimates of economic growth, showing that the country’s economy expanded by 11.1 percent in January 2025.
According to official data, construction, financial and insurance activities, transport and trade sectors made a significant contribution to economic growth.
“The growth in transport and warehousing sectors is mainly due to the growth in air, freight and passenger transport, as well as warehousing and supporting transport activities. Freight, road transport and land transportation services have also increased. The growth in the construction sector is mainly related to the construction of residential and non-residential buildings and specialised construction works”, Paata Shavishvili, the Deputy Executive Director of the National Statistics Office said.
The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development has revised its 2025 economic growth forecast for Georgia, increasing it to 6 percent.
