Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Wednesday paid special tribute to the families of soldiers who lost their lives fighting for Georgia’s territorial integrity and in international missions.
In his address at the celebration marking the 34th anniversary of the Georgian Defence Forces, Kobakhidze noted that the Georgian people would never forget heroes and would always pay due respect.
“Today, I want to especially honour with deep respect the families of the soldiers who fell in the battles for the territorial integrity of Georgia and in international missions. We will never forget our heroes and will always pay them due respect”, the PM said.
The head of the Government emphasised that the Georgian people would forever remember the examples of self-sacrifice and heroism shown for the homeland.
“The examples of self-sacrifice and heroism for the homeland, which each of us is proud of, will never be erased from the memory of the Georgian people. I bow to the bright memory of our heroes. I would like to express special respect to the veterans of the armed forces, many of whom have lost their health in service to their homeland, but they are still ready to sacrifice themselves today”, he continued.
Highlighting the crucial role of the Georgian Defence Forces in safeguarding the country’s sovereignty and independence, the Prime Minister reaffirmed his Government's commitment to strengthening national defence.
“The Georgian Defence Forces are an unwavering guarantee of our sovereignty and independence. That is why you hold a primary place among the priorities of our Government. I am confident that you will be an increasingly strong and reliable force in ensuring the defence and security of the country and will always live up to the hopes of our country and people”, he noted.
Kobakhidze further stressed that the Government would continue to ensure peace and stability in the country in the future.
