Georgian Foreign Minister Maka Botchorishvili on Friday said the Georgian side during the meeting with the European Commission delegation within the framework of the visa dialogue presented its positions, which addressed the concerns and recommendations that were noted by the European Union.
In her remarks, Botchorishvili noted that this was the first meeting at the working level, where the parties exchanged positions.
She further expressed the Government’s expectations that the EU would further take into account legitimate reasons that exist within the framework of the visa dialogue.
“This was the first working meeting at the working level, where the parties exchanged positions. Our main goal was to provide the European side with information at this level and the Georgian side’s positions on each issue, regarding the visa dialogue and in this specific case the activation of the suspension mechanism. We will see how events will develop”, the FM said.
“We expect that the EU will further take into account legitimate reasons that exist within the framework of the visa dialogue and the legitimate conditions that the Georgian side has. The Georgian side presented information on the issues that we have seen so far in the reports or regulations recorded by the EU, which are known to our public”, she concluded.
