Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Friday said his Government was open to dialogue with the EU in all areas, including on the issues of visa liberalisation.
In his remarks, Kobakhidze noted that using the issue of visa liberalisation for blackmail was regrettable, expressing hope that a fair approach would be established towards Georgia.
“Our answers are very clear, very clear. Everything else is politics. We hope that, ultimately, the approaches will change in the European bureaucracy, a fair approach will be formed towards the Georgian people, our state, our country. We have answers to all questions and are absolutely open to dialogue”, the PM said.
“It is really unfortunate that the issue of visa liberalization is being used for blackmail. At one time, we actually blocked all avenues for blackmail, the only theoretical tool left is visa liberalization, and specific forces are trying to use this tool for blackmail against the Georgian people and our state. This is the wrong approach. We want a fair approach and we are talking to our European partners with this message”, he concluded.
