Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov on Friday described Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze’s first official visit to the country as a “historic event”, saying the sides had discussed key issues on the bilateral agenda, including political dialogue, trade and economic relations, investment and sectoral cooperation, as well as the development of cultural and humanitarian ties.
Speaking at a joint briefing with the Georgian Prime Minister, Japarov thanked Kobakhidze for accepting his invitation and paying an official visit to Kyrgyzstan.
“Georgia is an important partner of Kyrgyzstan, and our relations are based on mutual trust, mutual respect and long-term cooperation. We consider the first official visit of the Prime Minister of Georgia to Kyrgyzstan a historic event. Indeed, throughout the 34-year history of Kyrgyz-Georgian diplomatic relations, this is the first official visit to Kyrgyzstan by our Georgian friends at such a high level”, he noted.
The President added that the talks had been held in an open, friendly and constructive atmosphere, with the parties thoroughly reviewing the most important issues on the bilateral agenda.
“We comprehensively discussed key issues of the bilateral agenda, including political dialogue, trade and economic relations, investment and sectoral cooperation, as well as the development of cultural and humanitarian ties. Political relations between our states have remained strong and trust-based, providing a solid foundation for cooperation across all areas”, he continued.
Japarov further stressed the importance of maintaining regular political dialogue, deepening intergovernmental and interparliamentary contacts, and expanding consultations between the two countries’ foreign ministries.
