Georgia and China are moving to a new stage in their bilateral relations by establishing a comprehensive strategic partnership, said on Tuesday Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze.
In his remarks, Kobakhidze noted that the new framework builds on the strategic partnership agreement signed between the two countries approximately three years ago and is expected to deliver even greater results in deepening bilateral ties.
“This is an issue that merits a special government briefing. Today is a very important day. Around three years ago, Georgia and China signed a strategic partnership agreement, and we are now moving to the next stage - that of a comprehensive strategic partnership”, he said.
“Over these three years, our bilateral relations have advanced significantly. Political and economic ties have deepened considerably, which has been reflected in concrete actions. Visa-free travel has been introduced on a reciprocal basis, we have direct flights, and additional routes will be launched this year, increasing mobility between Georgia and China”, the PM continued.
Kobakhdze further added that the sides further achieved tangible results in trade and economic cooperation.
“These are the outcomes of the strategic partnership agreement signed three years ago. We are now entering a new phase in our relations, the phase of a comprehensive strategic partnership, which will bring even greater benefits in terms of strengthening Georgia-China relations. This is a very important agreement that was signed today”, the Prime Minister concluded.
