Archil Gorduladze, the Chair of the Georgian Parliament’s Committee on Legal Affairs, on Saturday stated that the relationship between Georgia and the European Union is a two-way street, emphasising that the EU needs Georgia just as much as Georgia needs the EU.
In his remarks with Imedi TV, Gorduladze highlighted that this mutual dependence stems directly from Georgia’s unique geopolitical and geographical position.
According to the MP, Georgia is a fully established state that plays a critical role in regional stability and connectivity.
“Everyone is aware of the significance of the Black Sea submarine cable, and everyone knows how vital the oil and gas pipelines running through our country are. Georgia is transforming into a major transport hub”, Gorduladze noted.
“A few months ago, during a gathering regarding the Middle Corridor, representatives of the Eurocracy simply ‘forgot’ about Georgia's existence”, Gorduladze said. “I don’t believe they don’t know where Georgia is on the map; rather, they are following specific narratives. Behind these narratives stand the very forces that are actively involved in attempting to orchestrate a revolution in Georgia”.
Gorduladze concluded by stressing that Georgia’s value to the West goes far beyond mere geography. When discussing Tbilisi’s importance to Brussels, he noted, it should not be viewed merely as a piece of strategic territory, as everyone is well aware of Georgia’s profound role in and contribution to European culture.
