Significant steps have recently been taken by both sides to ensure that relations between Georgia and the United States are viewed in a positive light, said on Friday Georgian Vice Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Maka Botchorishvili.
In her remarks, Botchorishvili expressed hope that another meeting with the US side would take place in the near future to continue discussions on the issue.
“We are working with the United States on defining the substance of renewed relations between Georgia and the US and on how these relations should be developed. We hope that in the near future we will have another opportunity to discuss these substantive issues in greater detail”, she noted.
“We have repeatedly stated that Georgia is ready to have meaningful relations with the United States. This means that the relationship should reflect Georgia’s national interests and, of course, the interests of the United States. Above all, these relations must be based on mutual respect. We see a willingness on the part of the United States that this is achievable”, Botchorishvili concluded.
