Georgia is ready to reset its relations with the United States and start from a clean slate, said on Wednesday Davit Matikashvili, the Chair of the Committee on Procedural Issues and Rules of the Georgian Parliament.
Matikashvili commented on recent remarks about Georgia made by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio during his address to Congress.
“The strained relationship is, unfortunately, the result of the unfair approach taken by the Biden administration toward Georgia. Therefore, a relationship damaged by unfair treatment should be repaired and improved through a fair approach. Naturally, this will happen if relations are based on fairness”, he noted.
Speaking before members of Congress, Rubio said that Georgia had taken certain steps that indicated a desire to improve relations with the United States.
“We have received several positive responses, and therefore we hope to see a change in Georgia’s trajectory from where it stands today”, the Secretary of State noted.
