Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili on Wednesday said the US State Department delegations emphasized two issues in its statement, confirmation of the common values and sharing common interests.
In his remarks, Papuashvili noted that the recognition of each other's interests, the search for common interests as well as agreement on these interests were important for the rebooting of relations between the two countries.
“The delegation emphasized two issues in its statement: it is a confirmation of the common values that we have been talking about for so long, and this visit has confirmed that we share common values and also common interests, be they economic or otherwise. The recognition of each other's interests, the search for common interests and agreement on these interests are also important for the resetting of relations between the two countries”, Papuashvili said,
“This is exactly what we are talking about when we said that we were declaring our readiness to reset relations, which will be based on the national interests of both nations, and this statement of the delegation confirms this, that our approaches and ideas regarding these bilateral relations have been realised based on this statement”, he concluded.
