Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Tuesday criticised comments made by German Ambassador Peter Fischer, stating that the diplomat’s statements regarding Georgia and its partner countries were “unserious” and do not deserve serious consideration.
In his remarks, Kobakhidze noted that Fischer repeatedly makes statements that, in his view, lack seriousness and are inappropriate for official diplomatic discourse.
“To put it very simply, Mr. Fischer is clearly off track. I cannot describe it any other way. His ever-new statements are so unserious that I do not think it is appropriate to assess them seriously. It is unfortunate and regrettable”, he said.
The Prime Minister further argued that although Fischer refers to Georgia’s partner countries and peoples, his remarks ultimately cast them in a negative light.
“Moreover, he speaks about our friendly countries and peoples, yet in the end, it turns out that he refers to them in some kind of negative context. This does not merit any positive or serious assessment”, Kobakhidze concluded.
