Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Monday said that the domestic opposition is “extremely weakened in every respect”, lacks public trust, is institutionally very weak, and does not represent a meaningful political force.
“The opposition is extremely weak in every respect. As you know, they do not have the trust of the people. Institutionally, they are absolutely weakened, and politically they represent virtually nothing. Against the backdrop of such overall weakness, these conflicts are entirely logical”, he noted.
Kobakhidze emphasised that there were personal confrontations within the opposition.
“These processes are very positive and important for strengthening Georgian democracy and for the final formation of a democratic system”, he said.
“However, I do not think this is enough. We must pay close attention to the lawsuit that has been submitted to the Constitutional Court, and we will present this case before the Court with particular care and attention”, Kobakhidze concluded.
